He wanted to continue
studying guitar and was introduced to the late Edward McGuire, publisher
of "Guitar Fingerboard Harmony" a Mel Bay Publication. He also studied
with Irvin Kaufman at IUP. Terry was fortunate to also study music at the
University of Hawaii, Leeward Campus, Penn State Campus, Duquesne
University where he worked extensively with Tom Kikta and Joe Negri. He
eared a degree in liberal arts and music from the University of the State
of New York now known as Excelsior College. Terry also completed graduate
studies in guitar and guitar pedagogy at Duquesne University in
Pittsburgh, PA.
His professional career of thirty five years has introduced him to
such musicians as Classical guitarist, Christopher Parkening, Aaron
Shearer, The Romero brothers, Gene Bertoncini (formerly on NBC's tonight
show, Country Artist-Freddie Fender, Billy Crash Cradock, and countless
others.
For 15 years, Terry worked with Larry Perkins, violinist. They were know
as Havana Brown and played extensively throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Larry retired from his music position at Indiana university of PA and
moved to Sedona, Arizona where Terry has traveled and performed as well.
In 1993 Terry was introduced to fiddler, Steve Stokes. They became an
instant success as a duo and performed regularly at the Grapevine and
Train Station Restaurants in Indiana, PA Steve moved to Nashville, Tennessee
where he currently performs on the Grand Old Opry with Mel McDaniels.
Terry continues to teach private music lessons at his studio in Indiana Pa
and is also a directory artist with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, "Arts and Education" program. He has traveled and
performed in over thirty states to include, Hawaii, Texas, Arizona, and
New York. His versatility has enabled his career to bring him success in
playing a variety of styles of music. |
| Although jazz is his first
love, Terry can often be heard playing classical music along with country,
folk and ethnic sounds. He first solo album titled "Setting the Standards"
has been a tremendous success. He plans to release another solo album by
